I am a full-time studio guitarist, music theory teacher and music producer with 17 years of teaching experience. I teach all guitar based music styles, music theory and home studio recording.

About Derrick
I've been working as a session musician and music teacher for the past 17 years. During this time, I've toured extensively with well-known artists around the country and abroad like Aditi Singh Sharma, Monali Thakur, Neeti Mohan, etc. I've also played in numerous albums and film background scores, and substantially influenced a population of young guitar players in my region. I'm excited to be here on Superprof and look forward to help out musicians who feel they're stuck in a rut. Trust me, I too have been there!
I have been teaching guitar and music theory since 2006. I've had students from all age groups, from 5 years old absolute beginners to 65 years old adults and everything in between. I presently teach guitar at 2 music schools in my region on weekends, and also take online classes for long-distance students.
Whenever I'm not teaching, my time is spent in the studio recording and producing songs and also working on film background scores, I also take music production classes.
I take classes in English and Hindi both.

My teaching method varies from student-to-student, since everyone's requirements are different. Some are absolute beginners, some are intermediate players who feel they're good with technique but lack a theoretical foundation, some need help with improvisation, chord construction, diatonic/non-diatonic harmony, modes, substitution, etc. For all of the above, a single teaching method does not work. Rather, the approach includes understanding the current skill level of the student, along with their musical interests and then moving forward from there.
I also teach studio recording, producing songs, recording, mixing and mastering from start to finish.
Complete beginners are most welcome.
