I am a fully qualified Secondary School English teacher (full QTS and induction into secondary schools obtained) who has taught in mainstream and grammar schools. I have been an Associate AQA GCSE English Literature Examiner for the last 3 years and have had great success in getting students through their GCSE's and A-Levels over the past 9 years - in class and also within private one to one tuition. I have taught English as a Foreign Language around the world from 2014 to 2018 each summer in countries like: China, Slovenia, Italy, Germany and Austria. I have also taught in EFL summer schools from 2011 to 2019. I have kept up my English Language teaching and lots of the activities inform best practice for the KS2 to KS5 English curriculum in terms of literacy. I am a 19th-century specialist and enjoy reading for pleasure whenever I can. I write short stories, plays and poetry. I use a great deal of Art/digital media and resources from other subjects to inform and enrich my teaching resources and keep my students engaged at all times. I did a small internship at Film Education (subsumed into the BFI) as part of my PGCE in 2012. Before teaching I had a career in the civil service and so understand the need for students to write clearly and for specific purposes in terms of transferrable skills.
