About Rosie
My love for physical education and sports stems from my own experiences—how they’ve shaped my growth, developed my discipline, and given me a sense of purpose. I want to share that same transformative power with others, whether it’s through enhancing their understanding of sports science, boosting their mental resilience through sports psychology, or supporting their overall health and well-being. I also see teaching as a collaborative journey, where both the student and the teacher learn and grow. Every student brings a unique perspective, and I’m excited by the challenge of adapting my approach to meet their needs, encouraging them to explore new ideas, question assumptions, and ultimately find their own path to success.

I believe that the key to effective tutoring is a personalized, student-centered approach. Every learner is unique, and I tailor my teaching methods to suit the individual’s needs, learning-style, and goals. My approach is a blend of hands-on learning, critical thinking, and theory, with a focus on creating a positive, engaging learning environment.
Active Learning & Practical Application: I incorporate practical examples, case studies, and real-world scenarios to help students understand complex concepts.
Interactive Techniques: I encourage students to ask questions, share their ideas, and challenge existing knowledge. This interactive dialogue allows them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Conceptual Understanding & Skill Development: Whether it’s sports psychology, sports science, or health and wellbeing, I focus on building a deep conceptual understanding first. This is then reinforced with skills-based practice, making learning more comprehensive and engaging.
Progressive Structure: Lessons are broken down into manageable chunks that build upon each other. Starting with foundational concepts, we move to more advanced topics as the student’s confidence and abilities grow.
Typical Length: Most lessons are 30 minutes, but I can adjust this depending on the student's needs and the subject matter. Longer sessions are available for more in-depth topics or exam preparation.
Lesson Breakdown: Each lesson typically consists of a 5 minute review of previous content, followed by the main teaching section (15-20 minutes), and then a summary or recap with practice questions or activities to consolidate learning 5 minutes).
Qualifications: I hold a Masters degree in Teaching and Learning. As well as, Physical Education, Activity and Health & Well-being. Additionally, I have completed a minor course related to Sports Management.
Experience: I have three years of teaching experience at a decile 10 school on the North Shore. I have coached, Volleyball, Netball, and Rugby Union.
Target Audience:
Level & Age Group: My lessons are designed for students at a range of levels, from secondary school students (NCEA to university) students studying sports science or health-related courses. I also work with individuals of any age interested in improving their physical fitness, mental health, and well-being.
