About Tatum
Hello! My name is Tatum, and I’m a TEFL-certified English teacher from South Africa with 6 years of professional teaching experience in a preschool environment.
Teaching is something I genuinely love, and I believe that learning English should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. My teaching style is warm, patient, encouraging, and interactive. I create a comfortable environment where students feel confident to speak, ask questions, make mistakes, and learn without feeling pressured.
Through my years of working with young children, I have developed a strong understanding of how to keep learners engaged and adapt my teaching to different personalities, abilities, and learning styles. I enjoy using conversation, stories, games, songs, and creative activities to make lessons memorable and effective.

My approach to teaching English is fun, patient, encouraging, and focused on building confidence. With 6 years of experience teaching preschool children, I understand how important it is to make lessons engaging and enjoyable while still achieving clear learning goals. I am TEFL certified and specialise in helping young learners develop their English through conversation, games, stories, songs, activities, and everyday situations.
I teach in English and aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning at their own pace. I believe that children learn best when they are actively involved, rather than simply listening to a teacher.
A typical lesson with me is interactive and adapted to the student's age, level, interests, and individual needs. We may practise speaking and pronunciation, learn new vocabulary, work on basic grammar, read stories, or use fun activities and games to reinforce what we have learned.
My lessons are particularly suited to young learners and beginner to elementary-level English students. Whether a child is learning their very first English words or needs extra practice and confidence with speaking, my goal is to make every lesson something they look forward to.

What I like most about Tatum’s teaching style is that she doesn't just give you the answer. She takes the time to explain things properly and make sure you actually understand the work. She is also really approachable, so I never feel embarrassed to ask questions or admit when I don’t understand something.
One experience that stands out to me is how Tatum was able to take something I was struggling with and explain it in a much simpler way. It made the topic feel a lot less overwhelming, and I left the lesson feeling much more confident.
