I have been working with Sylvan for the past three years and I give him my highest recommendation as a French tutor.
In addition to more basic grammar exercises and conversation, Sylvan has also been willing to help with practicing translation at a higher academic level.
Sylvan has also been remarkably flexible with his scheduling, allowing for cancellations as well as pre-paid ZOOM sessions.

Not only did Sylvan teach me and my girls French for almost a decade, but he also taught them both piano. Sylvan is patient and sweet and he has become a forever honorary member of our family. I can't say enough good things about Sylvan! He's been teaching my 3 kids who ranged from complete novice to nearly fluent since 2021. He makes the lessons fun and joins my zany learners where their imaginations lead them to compose some of the silliest French sentences I've ever read. :D In addition to French, Sylvan has also been teaching my children piano. His instruction goes beyond the lessons I had as a child, and includes finger technique, hand posture, and music theory. Our lives have been enriched thanks to Sylvan and I'm so grateful for all that he's taught my children. They have progressed quickly even as Sylvan thoroughly covers the basics so I feel like they have a strong foundation upon which to keep building!
