About Shayden
My name is Shayden and I'm a 3rd year medical student at the University of Melbourne. I completed my undergraduate degree in science with a major in Neuroscience and a breadth stream in Philosophy, scoring a high H1 average in all major and minor subjects. I scored an 85 is Section 2 of the GAMSAT and maintained a H1 average in my 3rd year philosophy subjects.

I have been tutoring for 5 years, and I have a strong passion for assisting students in developing their writing skills, particularly in relation to the unique challenge posed by section 2 of the GAMSAT. I also tutor essay writing across a wide range of subjects, and I have extensive experience in marking and critiquing student essays. My tutoring is tailored to the individual needs of the student, and covers everything from basic essay structuring to idea generation/content exposure to vocabulary development and writing skills. This is not a basic universally applied template, but a targeted service which can be shaped to meet the needs and goals of the student. I always employ a respectful and compassionate approach to tutoring, and my ultimate goal is not to make this a cash for time type arrangement, but rather a genuine effort which enables students to reach their goals. I understand that student time is valuable and that tuition is expensive, especially for students who are working while studying. For this reason, I offer a free first session in which I will work with the student to outline my approach, respond to questions/concerns, and establishes strengths, weaknesses and goals for the tutoring. This session allows us to gauge whether we are a good fit and will provide you with some insight into the kind of teaching I offer. Typically, my lessons are 1 hour in duration, however, I'm happy to do shorter, longer or more frequent sessions to meet the needs of students.
