About Orla
I'm a First-Class Biomedical Science graduate with an MSc by Research in Integrative Neuroscience and several years of experience working in leading UK research centres, including the UK Dementia Research Institute and the Newcastle University Biomedical Research Centre. My research has focused on neurodegenerative diseases, stem cell biology and translational medicine, giving me a deep understanding of biology beyond the classroom.
Alongside my research, I've mentored BSc and MSc students in the laboratory, helping them develop practical skills, scientific understanding and confidence. Teaching and supporting others has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career and inspired me to start tutoring.
I'm approachable, patient and supportive, and I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop a genuine understanding of biology and achieve their full potential.

My aim is to make biology feel less overwhelming by breaking down difficult concepts into simple, easy-to-understand explanations. Each student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit their individual learning style, pace and goals, focusing on building confidence as well as knowledge. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-levels or just need help with a tricky topic, my lessons are designed to be supportive, engaging and tailored to help you achieve your goals.
