About Christine

After training at Concordia University in theater performance with a specialization in voice and movement, I was honored with the highest accolade in Canadian television for portraying Celine Dion in a made-for-tv biography. I would love to pass on the knowledge I acquired in university and over the past 20 years of working professionally as a performer. I studied with renowned teachers Elaine Overholt, Claudette Roche and Nancy Helms.

About the lesson

Hi, thanks for your interest in training with me! ️

I offer my students an inspiring warm-up routine to strengthen their voice, perfect enunciation and build the confidence to sing and perform effortlessly.

We will explore the 5 areas of vocal resonance, breathwork techniques, singing on the vowels, using the entire body as your instrument, and performing the song the way an actor would a monologue, to convey the emotion, intention and subtext of the piece.

Please note that I only accept serious students and do not offer free lessons at this time. Thank you for understanding!

Perfect! When I asked Christine to become my voice coach... I did not know that she was also versed with theatre, and other way of improving my prestation (I am preparing for an important role in a musical). I would recommend her to anybody who wants to become a better singer, not only with the voice but also with interpretation. I would not change her for anybody else (and I have been singing for more than 30 years)

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I started singing and playing guitar when I was 13, thanks to my brother Sami. He is a brilliant guitarist who owns a talent management agency in Vancouver called "Fusion Presents". Growing up, he offered innumerable music lessons and jam sessions to help develop my style.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Music and performance are my therapy. When I first started playing, I was trying to express feelings that were not easy to talk about as a child; experiencing war and displacement, being estranged from friends, family, caregivers and environments that were familiar. These are not feelings that are easy to comprehend at any age. Music and acting helped me express these difficult emotions.

Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
My brother Sami who taught me guitar, and my family for showing me hard work and good ethics. My grandparents and aunt owned the best primary school in Baghdad, Madrasset Adel. We grew up hearing stories about the high level of education provided to all students, even those whose parents could not afford tuition because of the war would still attend by bartering carpets, sheep, rice, and anything so that the children could go to school.
What are your keys to success?
I have learnt to surround myself with people who excel at what they do and listen.
