About Karuna
I am a teacher by profession, but now have four children and have chosen to take a step back from my profession to look after my children at home. Tutoring enables me to enjoy the best parts of teaching by taking students to new levels of skill and understanding, without having to work outside my home.
I have many interests and hobbies including reading, sewing costumes, decorating themed birthday cakes for my children, visiting historical sites and taking my dog for countryside walks.
Although I am British, my parents travelled a great deal when I was a child due to my father's work, so I have lived in and visited many different countries all over the world.

Primarily focusing on students with English as an additional language, my lessons aim to be practical and tailored to the particular needs of my students. I focus on improving conversational fluency in particular, but am also experienced at teaching reading and writing skills. In the first lesson, I will assess the language level of the student and decide whether the student's language requirements and my skills are suitably matched. Following a positive decision, we decide on the primary areas to work on and agree a potential learning journey. A typical lesson lasts 30 minutes. I tutor both adults and children over the age of 8.
I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher with over five years of experience teaching in schools in England. I am a Natural Sciences MA graduate of Cambridge University.
