About Stefan
Stefan Christie undertook a Bachelor of Music with Honors at the University of Melbourne under the guidance of Janine Sowden, and honed his classical expertise during his time there. Throughout his studies, Stefan demonstrated his prowess as a soloist and chamber musician in regular concerts and classes, even participating in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Kenji Fujimura, Igor Machlak, and Jerry Wong. His Bachelor's journey was enriched in his Honors year by the instruction from renowned Brazilian pianist Alexandre Dossin. Stefan thrived in competitions, took part in MSV and PAMS concerts, and was also invited by AMEB to perform in a Performance Masterclass aimed at exploring ‘how to teach an advanced student’. In 2023, Stefan graduated with a Master's in Piano Performance from London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having studied under Peter Bithell, Caroline Palmer, and Lucy Parham. Stefan's collaborative spirit has extended to diverse settings, as he has extensive experience accompanying instrumentalists, engaging with choirs, and presenting chamber works. Recent examples of this include: premiering Alex Groves' "Intertwined" at Milton Court, accompanying Mark Bautista (operatic tenor) in an Italian song cycle, performing lesser-known chamber music such as César Cui and Franz Behr in a flute, violin and piano trio, and expanding his artistic horizons through performances and masterclasses with esteemed musicians including Noriko Ogawa, Charles Owen, and Joan Havill.
