About Maria
I have a lifelong passion for poetry and I have published poetry myself. I know that not all poetry excites any given student, but there are surprises. Sometimes a student who is struggling takes a liking to Shakespeare or Chaucer or Rumi or Li Bai or Rimbaud or Pushkin or Hughes. This gives the student an added bonus when it comes to applying for university or grad school. They can list as their hobby reading Shakespeare or any one of the others and they are able to quote their poetry so that it's relevant to the text or essay at hand.

In this course, we review poetry from all ages, early antiquity, Middle Ages, and Romantic and Modern. We look at translations of poetry from all over the world. I have competence in the area of world literature. And we learn to quote and read in-depth various poems, and how they are applicable to our lives.
