About Ella
Hello, I’m Ella. I will be training to become a French teacher, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence in their language learning.
I understand that learning a language can feel challenging at first, so I focus on creating a supportive and structured environment where students feel comfortable to participate and make progress. I break learning down into clear, manageable steps and use regular practice and repetition to help students develop their skills over time.
My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s needs, whether they are just starting out or preparing for GCSE exams. I place a strong emphasis on pronunciation, understanding how the language works, and building the confidence to use French in real situations.
As part of my experience, I have developed skills in explaining concepts clearly, adapting my teaching to different learners, and ensuring that lessons are engaging and purposeful.
I am committed to helping students feel more confident and capable in French, and to supporting them in achieving their goals.

I take a structured, supportive approach to tutoring, with a strong focus on building confidence and ensuring that learners feel successful from the outset. I believe that students make the most progress when learning is broken down into clear, manageable steps and when they are given frequent opportunities to practise and apply new knowledge.
In terms of methodology, I prioritise clear modelling, guided practice, and regular checking for understanding. For language learning in particular, I emphasise pronunciation, repetition, and active use of the target language through speaking and listening activities. I also aim to make lessons interactive and engaging, using questioning, short tasks, and retrieval practice to reinforce learning and support long-term memory.
A typical lesson lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. I usually begin with a short recap of prior learning, followed by the introduction of new content in small steps. This is then reinforced through guided and independent practice, with ongoing feedback throughout. I aim to maintain a good pace while ensuring that students have time to process and respond.
In terms of my experience, I am currently undertaking teacher training in French, which has provided me with a strong foundation in lesson planning, classroom practice, and subject pedagogy. Through this, I have developed skills in explaining concepts clearly, managing learning effectively, and adapting my teaching to meet different needs.
My lessons are primarily aimed at secondary school students, particularly those at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level. However, I can also support beginners or younger learners who are new to the language. I tailor my approach depending on the learner’s level, ensuring that content is accessible while still providing appropriate challenge.
Overall, my aim is to create a positive and structured learning environment where students feel confident to participate, make mistakes, and develop their skills over time.
