About Joseph
Initially, I taught myself to play piano, but quickly became aware that I had no chance of progressing well if I wasn't regularly seeing a teacher. Throughout the course of my university degree I was taught by a few excellent teachers who have brought my playing to a high standard. Having now graduated, I am running a private teaching studio in my front room in Haslington.

Having initially taught myself piano and music theory (and having now received comprehensive lessons in both disciplines at university) I have a good grasp of common pitfalls to avoid as a beginner as well as many ways to improve if you're an intermediate to advanced pianist.
All skill levels and age groups are welcome.
I specialise in classical piano but will be able to guide you through other genres should you wish to study those. Basically, if you have sheet music for it, I can teach you it! I'm also happy to suggest music for you to learn once I get a grasp of your current ability.
Although I enjoy jazz playing, improvising, and playing by ear, it is something I very much do casually and would not feel comfortable teaching. If you're looking to improve your jazz improv skills, I'd recommend that you search for another teacher.
