About Lauren
Hi! I'm Lauren, originally from San Diego, California, where I first discovered my passion for helping students learn. During high school, I mentored elementary students in reading and writing. I also spent summers working as a Kindergarten aide at a prestigious private school, supporting students in various ways. For college, I moved to Colorado and earned a degree in Political Science and Business from the University of Colorado Boulder. My studies, which were heavily focused on reading, classic literature, political theory, and research-intensive writing projects, taught me how to effectively communicate different perspectives while engaging an audience. Since then, I've worked in politics, primarily in campaigns, where I've honed my skills drafting field plans, memos, research documents, creating executive presentations, and organizing messaging for voters. I'm excited to help the next generation strengthen their critical reading and writing abilities, especially in today's digital world. In my free time, you'll likely find me at yoga, strolling through Old Town Alexandria (where I now live), or catching up on my latest book—of course keeping my Goodreads up to date!
