About Maira
Hi prospective students,
As a tutor I characterise myself as understanding the way in which students learn, everyday difficulties that impact their learning and how we can work through them.
I want to teach my students to be better learners and naturally developing better results academically, but I also want to enhance their understanding of general knowledge, the university and job markets and provide a holistic tutoring experience.
Much of the lessons will push you to think back to knowledge we have developed and deploy it in exam and practical settings as this is the most efficient and effective way of studying.
I also want to emphasise that the lessons are open and flexible both time wise and content wise and are tailored to what you need to focus on.

I approach all teaching with high levels of active recall based revision and learning techniques. I provide all worksheets and am open to marking external work provided by student. Students will routinely have small quizzes which help develop understanding of strengths and weaknesses. This is balanced by explanations and discussions of topics led by me and supported by student.
Typical lengths of lesson range from a minimum of 1 hour and can be expanded based on students needs and productivity levels during lesson time.
I have worked both for a private tutoring company and private tutoring myself for over 5 years teaching a range of ages and skill levels. I also have outreach and mentoring experience within university.
I am open to all skill ranges with a balanced experience in secondary and higher education along with primary SATs training.
