About Chitra
My name is Chitra and I am a Suzuki certified, classically-trained violinist and violist. I attended CalArts at 16 years old and won the Herp-Alpert Scholarship for up and coming performers. I attended Chapman University where I received a double major in Violin Performance & BA Public Relations & Advertising. I have taught violin and viola for 5+ years and worked at Sony Music, Epic Records as well. I have worked for producers such as Mark Ronson, and am a professional string arranger working with artists such as Mimi Webb. I am very committed to informing and educating string players from any age beginner to intermediate and working with them to create a personalized lesson plan.

My approach to teaching is ear-training based; making students intuitive to their own talent through classical training and jazz structures as well. I teach beginners through intermediate students. I believe in connecting with student's goals and understanding what they want to achieve from learning the violin. I focus as well on form and making sure they are practicing their instruments without harm to their bodies. I will create a personalized lesson plan for each student and offer free trial lessons!
