About Scott
About Me
I’m an experienced and passionate educator with 10 years of tutoring experience and 2 years of experience teaching High School Mathematics. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students of different learning styles, abilities, and academic goals.
One of my proudest achievements as a tutor was mentoring a student who successfully presented their mathematical work at an international forum of the Mathematical Society of the Philippines. This experience reflects my commitment not only to helping students improve their grades, but also to developing their confidence, critical thinking, and potential beyond the classroom.
I strive to create a patient, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. With my background in Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science, I bring strong subject knowledge and practical experience to every lesson.

My Approach as a Tutor

My goal as a tutor is not simply to help you get the right answer—it’s to help you understand the process, build confidence, and eventually solve problems on your own. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my explanations, examples, and pacing to match your needs.
My Teaching Method
I start by understanding your current level, your goals, and the topics you find challenging. From there, I break difficult concepts into simple, manageable steps and explain them using clear examples. Instead of simply giving you solutions, I guide you through the reasoning behind them.
My lessons may include:

• Real-world applications to make concepts easier to understand
• Short reviews to strengthen your foundation

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
We begin with a quick review of what you already know and identify what you want to accomplish during the session. I then introduce or explain the topic, demonstrate examples, and work through problems with you. As you become more comfortable, I gradually let you take the lead so you can develop confidence and independence. We finish by reviewing the key ideas and identifying what you should practice next.
Why Learn With Me?
I have a strong academic background in Mathematics with Computing and am currently pursuing graduate studies in Data Science at Ateneo de Manila University. This allows me to connect mathematical concepts with statistics, programming, data analysis, and real-world applications.
More importantly, I understand that being "good at math" is not something you are simply born with. With the right explanation, practice, and support, difficult topics can become much more manageable. I am patient, approachable, and happy to explain a concept in different ways until it makes sense.
