About Lucy
Are you looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated tutor to help you excel in Physical Education (theory) or English Language? With years of academic and practical experience, I offer expert tutoring tailored to your needs. Having achieved top-class degrees in PGCE PE with English (EBacc); BSc Sport & Exercise Science; and MSc Sport Science, I have a deep understanding of numerous topic areas.
My teaching is enriched by personal experience.
For example, as a high-level competitive athlete, giving me unique insights into the application of theory in real-world sporting environments.
Or, as a student, having achieved 4 x A* Grades at GCSE which included: Physical Education (A*); English Literature (Level 8) and English Language (Level 9).

I have experience working in secondary schools across Doncaster and Nottingham, teaching across a range of awards in both PE and English.
My first session is free, and is about getting to know you, what you are currently learning, and what targeted areas of help you require.
I use a variety of different techniques, focusing on one topic at a time, as to ensure that it is covered thoroughly. I mainly use past papers and exam questions - the best way to learn is through application to exam questions!
PE:
- Lessons are for Year 10 and 11 students, working towards their GCSEs/BTEC awards.
- Typical length of a lesson is 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- As an ex-Associate Demonstrator at a UK University, and an MSc Sport Science and BSc Sport and Exercise Science grad (First Class Honours), I have a wide range of knowledge that underpins these lessons.
- My own sporting experiences as a swimmer (National Champion at 16), underpin my teaching strategies. I use a range of pedagogical styles, including: - worksheets - quizzes - exam questions - application to real-world experience - fun activities
English:
- Lessons are for Year 7-9 students who would like help with fundamental English skills.
- Lessons are for Year 10 and 11 students, working towards their GCSEs. These would particularly suit students who are working below a Grade 6, and would like help to boost their grades.
