About MacKenna
Hi there! I am currently working towards my master's degree at UNH and combined with my undergraduate experiences, have learned various history subjects and completed many projects. As a double major, I completed two theses that each required a year-long process of research, writing, and defending my work. I have also received As in all of my history classes.

While part of history is remembering specific dates and events, it also is important to use critical thinking and analysis skills to find patterns, causes and effects, and connections to modern events. History can be a hard subject to grasp- there is so much of it! My tutoring style breaks these bigger concepts into smaller, more manageable ideas that are easier to understand! I am committed to finding teaching methods that work for all learners. My lessons are in American history for all ages. Typically a lesson plan looks like this:
- warm up discussion
- historical context (what is happening during this time?)
- analysis and critical thinking discussion
- interactive activity (examining primary and secondary sources, mapping, etc.)
- reflective discussion and final question
