About Tia
Primary education is a crucial time in development and must be a creative space that facilitates this kind of learning. I firmly believe in social constructivist methods of learning, to allow children to independently investigate their individuality and creativity. My role is to guide them through this process. I have had particularly practice of this through the use of cross curricular approaches in Science and Art - combining them in topics such as season changes, plants and materials to discover about our world in a more creative, interactive way. Throughout all my placements, I made it my duty to be up to date with the statutory frameworks, national curriculums and professional duties in order to implement them effectively. I have also done an in-depth study of the EYFS framework as part of my curriculum studies module, which has furthered my knowledge on such frameworks.
During each school experience, I became acquainted with different assessment and monitoring methods both formative and summative. I practiced in the moment observations using the tapestry app, lead benchmarking sessions with students and gave written feedback on homework and activities completed in class. Using these, I was able to come up with next steps for the students and incorporated those into my lesson plans where appropriate. I have also made sure to do that with my own professional development, reviewing the effectiveness of my teaching in all subject areas.

I believe that learning should be collaborative and child-led. I am passionately dedicated to providing an inclusive, positive learning experience and support system for young people of varying backgrounds. I can adapt lesson structures for children who require a different learning method. Generally, I will provide a plenary starter activity to gage student ability, followed by 10/15 minute introduction to topic and a main activity for the student to work on with my support. I can provide post-tutoring activities if requested. My lessons are tailored for ages 3 - 11 in English Literature and Language. I have training in Read, Write, Inc. Phonics for younger age groups.
