About Esther
I have 3+ years of experience with TAing and tutoring college-level general and organic chemistry. I have also tutored high school algebra and personally competed in math Olympiads and team Olympiads while I was in high school. These have prepared me to meet each student where they are at, whether struggling with content or approach. How I got here: Back in high school, a math teacher loaned me my first college textbook on food chemistry. I loved the real-world application of science and thrived in my new laboratory, the kitchen. Little did I know that my home beginning would lead me to a PhD in applied, pharmaceutical chemistry, where I still play with "recipes," reactions, and proteins. In my tutoring sessions, I strive for every student to grasp big picture applications and meaning, not just the "test content."

The most robust learning comes through problem solving. In our sessions, we will focus on identifying the problem and the tools needed to solve it. I have students explain the questions to identify what they know and don't know. From there, we can tailor practice problems that focus on the weaker areas as well as identify ways to improve speed for test settings. For the first session, please bring a recent homework set or exam to help identify where you are at in the course. I offer in-person sessions (Salt Lake City, UT) in the evenings and weekends. I can also do video sessions with a more flexible schedule.
