About Maya

I'm Maya, a PhD candidate in Biomedical Science at UConn Health, where I build computer models of how bacteria grow, move, and form communities. I earned my B.S. in Biology from Emmanuel College in Boston, with minors in Data Analytics and Public Health. Before graduate school, I worked as a research assistant at Brigham and Women's Hospital, analyzing CT scans and patient data to study lung disease.

Teaching has been part of my journey throughout. I've served as an instructional assistant for molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry, and mentored younger STEM students one-on-one. I love the moment a tough concept finally clicks, and I remember what it felt like to struggle with these subjects myself. My goal is to help you build both understanding and confidence.

About the lesson

Working as an instructor assistant during COVID, where I had to film and teach students online. I have a Bachelor's in Biology and double minors in Data Analytics and Global and Public Health. I am currently in a PhD program and my project encompasses biology, mathematics, and computer science all together.
