About Pegter
I'm originally from Richmond, Virginia in the United States. I grew up there before attending boarding school in Alexandria, Virginia (about 20 minutes south of Washington, DC). During my time in boarding school, I both tutored as a volunteer ESL tutor to underserved members of the Latin-American community in the area and received tutoring in a number of subjects. This experience helped me to gain a better understanding of an ideal relationship between tutor and student. While tutoring is a serious matter, the personal relationship between tutor and student is also important. It's much easier to study effectively when you feel comfortable asking a "stupid" question and students are more likely to engage when they feel safe making a joke or talking about something unrelated to tutoring for a moment.

I've done a lot of writing and writing revision in my time @ college due to my work-study job as a peer writing assistant. I'm best at revising already written pieces but also have lots of experience helping students structure their thoughts and begin the writing process (often the hardest part).
