My approach to teaching graphic design is practical, beginner-friendly, and focused on real results. I believe students learn best by doing, so my lessons are not only based on theory but also on guided hands-on practice. I break each topic into simple steps so students can understand clearly and build confidence as they improve.
In class, I usually teach through explanation, visual examples, live demonstration, and practical exercises. I guide students on important design basics such as layout, colour use, typography, spacing, balance, and how to create more professional-looking designs. I also help students apply these skills to real projects such as posters, flyers, social media posts, presentation slides, and promotional materials. I adjust the lesson based on each student’s level, pace, and goals.
A typical lesson is around 1 hour, which gives enough time to explain concepts, demonstrate techniques, and let the student practise with guidance. For students who want more in-depth learning, longer lessons can also be suitable.
I teach with practical industry understanding as the owner of BigFat Creative Studio, where creative work involves design, branding, visual content, and promotional materials. This allows me to teach skills that are useful in real-world situations, not just classroom theory. My goal is to help students create designs that are clean, effective, and visually appealing while also understanding why a design works.
