About Andrea

I'm Andrea Iacoviello, I played live with Steve Vai and I have been teaching guitar for more than 15 years and received a recommendation letter from a five-time Grammy Award winner (C. McQueen, from Snarky Puppy). I have a degree in guitar with a score of 100/100. I studied with some of the best players and teachers in the world, including Andy McKee and Tony McManus, the five-time Grammy Award-winning guitar players from Snarky Puppy, and teachers from Berklee College of Music and Musicians Institute of LA, and participated in masterclasses with Steve Vai, Robben Ford, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, Scott Henderson, M.A. Batio, Martin Miller, and Neil Zaza. I participated in a project that won a Royal Television Award in the UK, directed two music schools and have had students from all continents and various parts of the world. Some of my students have been accepted into Berklee College of Music. I have published three books in different languages, recorded material for TV and movies, and contributed to international CDs and video courses.

My goal is to help you reach your goals from the first lesson.
I will ask about your goals, needs, and areas of interest, and from there, I will create a personalized learning path to follow in our lessons, as well as a customized practice program. Since every student is unique, I tailor my lessons specifically to your needs. I will also create a shared document to keep track of everything we do during our classes.

After each lesson, I’ll send you a recap of what we covered, along with free extra materials, and I’ll always be available to assist you, 24/7. It won’t be just a 30/60-minute class—it will be a complete and consistent practice system to help you achieve your goals and move to the next level in your playing!

I’ve taught a wide range of students and styles, including Rock, Metal, Pop, Acoustic, Blues, Jazz, Traditional music, and Songwriting. Despite this variety, I specialize in a few specific areas:

-Intermediate/late beginner students who want to work on improvisation, scales, and theory. These students are often self-taught, having learned from YouTube videos or other online materials, but are unsure how to progress or what to focus on to reach the next level.
-Beginners who want to start from zero or near-zero.
-Songwriters or individuals who want to write their own music.
-People who feel stuck in their progress or don't know what to do to improve
-Who wants to improve his/her technique and speed
If you fall into any of these categories, I can guarantee that you will reach your goals quickly with me.

Here’s what others say about me:

Recommendation from Chris McQueen, 5-time Grammy Award winner and Snarky Puppy's guitarist:
"I’m writing to recommend Andrea Iacoviello as a guitar teacher. I’ve known Andrea for several years now as a student of mine. I’ve known him to be a thoughtful, kind person and an inquisitive musician. He’s always looking for ways to improve his teaching skills. He’s diligent and reliable, and I know he would be a great guitar teacher and a great person to work with."
Chris McQueen, Austin, TX USA Aug 16, 2022

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I discovered guitar and music when i was a teenager, around 16 years old. Day by day i developed a deep love for music and the study of the guitar and i wanted to be better and know more everyday. This passion and love is still alive today, and also the continuous research of improvement.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I'm a music lover, i listen and love everykind of music, and I teached Jazz, Blues, Rock, Metal, Pop, Acoustic, literally everything. If i have to pick something, i love jazz, irish music and acoustic fingerstyle.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

If I have to be honest, I can teach everything about guitar, and everything can be learned, but for me the hardest part for a musician (at any level) is the psychology. I usually help students to develop a good practice routine, have a correct mentality, develop self confidence and the love for studying guitar, even in bad moments when you feel stuck or bored becouse you are studying something difficult. The psychology part is important, and i love helping my students with that.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

There isn't a most complicated one. I also play bass, banjo and bouzouki. We play what we like, and with practice and support everyone can master the instrument that he loves.
  • What are your keys to success?

Passion, practice, and joy. I love playing guitar, and I love teaching and help other students, that is my biggest passion in my life. And I love practicing, and reach the next level. And joy, becouse playing guitar is beautiful!
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I'm superlucky, and I met all my heroes, some of them were also my teachers. By the way, if I have to pick 3: Micheal League, John Scofield and Miles Davis (unfortunately this one is impossible), just to talk about music with them.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

I remember one student forgot the guitar. He told me he forgot that you need a guitar for a guitar lesson. Hey guys, spoiler: you need it!
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I´m avaliable 24/7 to help my students, and I really really care about them
