About Nishan
About Me:
I am Vice Captain of School and a Year 13 student at Bolton School studying Further Maths, Chemistry, and Computer Science (predicted 3 A*s), currently applying to Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, and Warwick for Economics courses.
I also enjoy playing Piano and Tuned Percussion, having achieved a Distinction in my recent Grade 8 examination (LCM), and currently working on my Grade 8 Tuned Percussion.
Why I Want to Teach:
Mathematics often gets a bad reputation for being a subject of rigid memorisation, but I believe anyone can excel once the core concepts are clear and intuitive. Having taught myself A-Level Maths early, I developed efficient study techniques and high-level problem-solving strategies that actually stick when curveballs appear in the exam.
My goal is to transform how you approach complex problems and build complete independence. The mathematical rigour and logic we practice don't just secure top grades (Grades 8/9 at GCSE and A/A* at A-Level) - they also build the foundational thinking required for highly competitive university admissions tests such as the TMUA and ESAT.
My Approach and Commitment:
I bring strong leadership, patience, and personal discipline to every lesson. Because I have sat the exact papers you are preparing for, my understanding of current mark schemes, trap questions, and pacing strategy is fresh and exact. I provide a structured, encouraging environment tailored to how you learn best.

Methodology and Approach:
I focus on deep conceptual understanding paired with sharp exam technique. Having recently sat the Edexcel exams, I teach students the specific speed techniques and exam strategies needed to secure top grades.
Free 1st Session:
Starts with an informal chat to assess your current level, target grades, and specific learning style. We then dive into a priority topic of your choice so you leave the very first lesson with a clear understanding of how my step-by-step approach works and a noticeable confidence boost.
Regular Sessions:
Warmup retrieval practice → Step-by-step topic breakdown → Guided joint practice → Independent Edexcel past exam questions to close.
Lesson Length and Format:
Duration: 60-minute sessions (ideal for maintaining high focus).
Location: Online (Zoom/Google Meet)

- 10 Grade 9s at GCSE (97% in Further Maths)

Nishan helped me primarily by breaking down complex problems and concepts into the basic principles. Being taught from the base upwards enabled me to tackle the harder A2 problems, which enabled me to achieve an A* in my a-level Maths. I would highly recommend Nishan if you are aiming for the A/A* grade, but also for those who may be struggling to grasp some of the concepts of A-Level maths.
Nishan tutored me for Alevel maths, and my ability drastically improved as he taught me how to break down hard problems into small manageable parts. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to improve their grade in maths.
