I have an AAS in Interpreting for the Deaf and have taught Sign language for over 30years.

Melissa Scott, The ASL Tutor is a remarkable instructor. She worked diligently for 2 years with myself and my children to learn ASL. Her expertise in American Sign Language and her passion for teaching made the learning process enjoyable and effective. Through her patient guidance, we were able to grasp the intricacies of ASL and develop fluency in communicating through sign language.
She is adaptable to all circumstances. Melissa's ability to adjust her teaching methods based on the needs and abilities of her students is truly remarkable. Whether she is working with a large class or one-on-one with a struggling learner, she consistently finds innovative ways to engage her students and help them thrive. Melissa understands that each child is unique and learns differently, and she tailors her approach accordingly.
During part of the time with Melissa, I educated 3 additional children from other families. The lessons were fun, interactive, and informative. The age ranges of students I had under my homeschool were 8 years old to 16 years old. She managed to make sure every student received individual attention and tailored instruction.
When our class size decreased, she once again adjusted to ensure we were able to keep moving forward and be productive. She provided feedback and tips in other areas to assist my son who struggles with spelling. Additionally, she shared that utilizing ASL instead of writing words could be a helpful approach. This not only catered to his learning style but also enhanced his understanding of language.
Melissa's continuous grace and encouragement have had a significant impact on our lives. Thanks to her support, my children and I are now advancing to the local community college to pursue a certification in ASL. We believe that learning ASL is not only beneficial for communication but also for fostering inclusivity and understanding within our community. Melissa's teaching methods have proven to be effective, as my children have been able to apply the knowledge they acquired from her in their jobs at a local restaurant.
We will greatly miss our weekly meetings with Melissa and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her investment in us! Melissa's dedication and guidance have been invaluable to our family’s growth and success over the last 2 year. Her unwavering support and expertise have not only shaped our development in ASL but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among us. We are grateful for the opportunities she has provided and the valuable lessons we have learned along the way.
