About Phares
I have a Bachelor's in Music Education and Master's in Voice Performance and Opera. I have been teaching for nearly 40 years, including my work as Director of Music in three major churches in Philadelphia and one in North Jersey. My work as a professional pianist ranges from all of those years in the church, accompanying professional singers, and my voice students over the years for recitals, subbing for other piano teachers in music schools when they would be on leave of absence or vacation. My approach to teaching is that of creating an atmosphere of fun and discovery, while instilling the sense of deep respect for the discipline of practicing in order to constantly expand one’s joy for playing the piano in many styles. I want every one of my students to feel a sense of pride & accomplishment.
