About Sebastianas Dainius
To whomever it may concern, "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." - F. Nietzsche My why is the privilege of being to draw another breath - and learn something new - every day, whom others should have the right to as well. My name is Sebastianas (feel free to call me Sebastian), and I am an international student, trying to make a difference. Every living being is a vessel of energy - but where human energy flows is largely shaped by our global economic systems. This insight sparked my passion for energy economics and a deep interest in sustainable and just development, international cooperation, and trade. Born and raised in Lithuania, I moved to Norway at the age of 11 — two countries that hold an extra special place in my heart. Furthermore, having studied in Chicago and Chester, UK, I say that the only thing similar are the first two letters, but the combined lessons have been amazing. Having just finished my BSc, I am moving on to study an MSc in Denmark. Beyond academics, I enjoy meeting new people, spending time with friends and family, playing football and music, and listening to podcasts. Dear learner, Every conversation can be scary, let alone in a foreign language, so first of all - I invite you to take pride in your journey of learning. I approach language learning from the perspective of a student, just like you. This allows me to genuinely understand the challenges, frustrations, and triumphs you'll face. Being multilingual, I have stopped looking at languages as different ones, but rather one massive language - and I would like to challenge you to do the same. As research shows, words only make up only 7% of our communication. Thus, having lived in the UK, USA, Norway, Lithuania and now France, I carry with me a luggage of communicational and cultural skills that help you communicate for the rest of the 93% as well. I do not carry a massive amount of practical experience, but I have: - led interactive English as a foreign language sessions in the UK during my placement at a charity in spring 2024. - taught family members of my friends - and aim to bring this atmosphere of connection into our lessons as well. - Learned English alongside my mother-tongue - Achieved top-grades both in Norwegian and Higher Education in the US/UK WHO AM I BEST SUITED FOR - Adults; - International Students; - Teenagers (13+) LEVEL Advanced English: You are looking to refine your advanced English for professional communication, academic pursuits, or simply to achieve natural fluency and idiomatic expression. You want to paint pictures with words. Intermediate English, Norwegian, Lithuanian You want to improve your conversational flow, expand your practical vocabulary, and gain confidence in a wider range of daily interactions. You want to avoid translating from your mother tongue, and speak fluently. Beginners English, Norwegian and Lithuanian: Start speaking from your very first lesson! We will focus on most used phrases and important vocabulary to get you communicating quickly and confidently in everyday situations. Length and Structure 30 - 60 minutes Repetition is key, thus even the minimum is better than nothing! Lessons are held in the language one would like to improve, by the following structure: 1) Getting to know each other/catch up from last time 2) Setting/revisiting Goals and Plans 3) Interactive Practice and Guided Conversation a. Simulating everyday situations b. Targeted exercises c. Guided questions d. Introducing new concepts 4) Revisiting recurring areas for development 5) Summary and next steps Gentle correction and constructive feedback will be provided throughout the lesson.
