About TeArra
Hello Everyone!! My name is TeArra and I am currently a health and wellness student at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. School has not always been fun for me, but once I created the space for myself to learn in a way that benefits me, I saw an increase in my comprehension. Learning is more than school or a test, it's having the confidence to further understanding of concepts that will take us beyond the present. I am very family-oriented as I have 12 siblings! I love sports, especially basketball: I even work for the women's basketball team here at UCCS! I look forward to learning and growing together!

I tend to utilize real-world application and adaptive teaching. I try to make concepts relevant by linking them to practical, real-world examples. This helps students see the value of what they’re learning and strengthens retention. Being adaptive means that I adjust my approach depending on the student's learning style and pace. Whether the student is a visual learner, prefers hands-on activities, or learns best through verbal explanations, I adapt to suit their needs. A typical lesson plan begins with a warm-up to get the creative juices flowing, as we move on to the introduction of material and guided practice. Once the student is comfortable, we switch to independent practice and eventually end things off with review and reflection to get a grasp on the comprehension and understanding that the student gained. What sets me apart is that I believe that every student is unique, and I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I adapt to the specific needs, strengths, and challenges of the individual student, whether that means adjusting the pacing, teaching method, or even the types of resources I use. I don’t just tutor content; I focus on building confidence, self-efficacy, and problem-solving skills. I encourage a growth mindset, helping students see challenges as opportunities to improve, rather than obstacles.
