About Agustin

Hello! My name is Agustin Juarez, and I am passionate about education and student well-being. With a background in both teaching and counseling, I bring a unique blend of skills and experience to help students thrive academically and personally.

Professional Experience:
I have had the privilege of working in various educational roles, including as a substitute teacher, program leader, and school counselor. My diverse experience has equipped me with the ability to support students from different backgrounds and with varying needs. I have developed and implemented effective lesson plans, provided emotional and academic support, and fostered inclusive learning environments.

Educational Background:
I hold a BA in Psychology from California State University Los Angeles, where I graduated Cum Laude, and I am currently pursuing my MA in Education with a focus on School Counseling at the University of Southern California. My academic journey reflects my commitment to understanding and addressing the holistic needs of students.

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and my role is to facilitate that success through personalized and engaging instruction. My teaching methods are student-centered, focusing on active learning and differentiated instruction to cater to individual learning styles. I also integrate my counseling expertise to provide comprehensive support that addresses both academic and emotional needs.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is centered around understanding the unique needs and learning styles of each student. My goal is to create an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles and needs.

Student-Centered Approach: I prioritize the student's needs and interests, creating a personalized learning experience.

Active Learning: I employ techniques that encourage students to actively participate in their learning process, such as discussions, problem-solving activities, and hands-on projects.

Differentiated Instruction: Recognizing that each student learns differently, I adapt my teaching methods to fit individual learning styles. This might involve using visual aids, interactive tools, or practical examples.

Constructive Feedback: I provide regular and constructive feedback, helping students to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

Emotional and Academic Support: Given my background in counseling, I am skilled at providing emotional support alongside academic guidance, which is crucial for holistic student development.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

Diverse Experience: My varied roles in education—from substitute teaching to being a school counselor intern—have equipped me with a broad range of skills and perspectives. This allows me to address both academic and emotional needs effectively.

Comprehensive Support: I offer more than just academic tutoring. My background in counseling enables me to provide emotional and social support, which is essential for a well-rounded learning experience.

Adaptability: I am adept at adjusting my teaching methods to fit different learning styles and needs, ensuring that each student can succeed in their own way.

Bilingual Skills: Being proficient in Spanish allows me to connect with and support a wider range of students, especially those who are bilingual or from Spanish-speaking backgrounds.

Commitment to Inclusivity: I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported, regardless of their background or learning challenges.

Target Audience for Lessons

Degree/Level: My lessons are primarily aimed at elementary school students, including those in special education (mild to moderate needs). However, I am also equipped to support middle and high school students, particularly in subjects like psychology and general education.

Class Specificities: My experience includes working with diverse classroom settings, such as mainstream classes, special education, and after-school programs. This has prepared me to handle various academic and behavioral challenges.

Special Needs: I have a particular focus on supporting students with special needs, offering tailored strategies to help them succeed academically and socially.

By integrating my counseling skills with my teaching methods, I aim to provide a comprehensive educational experience that supports both the academic and personal growth of my students.

Hello, I am a School Counselor; also have experience teaching in the K-12 school setting. I completed my undergraduate degree at Cal State Los Angeles and my Graduate degree in Education at USC.
