About Lily
I have played piano for over 10 years and completed my RCM 10 exam. I received the highest mark in British Columbia and the Yukon for my level 3 and level 5 exam, and also received the highest mark in all of Canada for my level 6 exam. I have a passion for music and want to spread that passion to other people.

I want to ensure all of my students have a strong foundation in piano and have basic music theory knowledge. Past that point, I am very flexible and will teach primarily in an interest-based fashion to ensure the student is doing something they enjoy while also developing their skills. I want to instill a love for music in my students that will encourage them to continue with music and develop their skills. If you are someone with no experience in music whatsoever, I will start by teaching you basic music theory such as how to read notes and basic rhythms. Once past that point, I will start teaching you basic pieces, exercises, and technical foundations for piano. Eventually, your skills will be developed enough that I will incorporate more advanced pieces and start teaching in a way that caters more to your interests. For students who have some sort of previous knowledge, I will evaluate the student's skills to determine their skill level and will proceed from there. This will vary from student to student.

Details
I provide a free 30-minute trial lesson for all students as a way for me to meet the student and get a sense of their goals and skill levels. All students will get a free piano technique book, but any additional books will be a charge. More details on this will be given when this comes up.
