  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I was about 8 when I first heard a Harmonica being played and immediately fell in love with the sound. it wasn't until I was 13 I got given a harmonica and I started to play and perform.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

There are so many, but someone I always come back to and can never get board of is Bach
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most difficult course I could give a student depends on the student but typically I will teach scales and arpeggios then we'll look at duets to play together and lastly we'll look at a piece of music that either I or my student wants to learn, but it depends on the students choice of style, i'll do something different if I was teaching blues Harmonica
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Personally I think either the Harmonica or the Organ, the reason for the Harmonica is there aren't many teachers out there explaining the instrument and techniques so many players develop bad technique, also tone and intonation is hard to develop but becomes easy with a good teacher. The organ is hard because you have to play very complicated works and play with your feet which blows my mind but overall I couldn't really say what the hardest instrument to learn is but all instruments have there strengths and weaknesses it's just about how much time you put into it.
  • What are your keys to success?

Discipline and drive to learn what you want to learn. Also scales and metronome practice.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

The first is Bach because I would love to talk to him about composition, the second is Larry Adler because he was one of the pioneers of classical harmonica And the last is Little Walter who pioneered the blues harmonica.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

My days at Leeds Conservatoire were spent learning and study pieces. Either learning to play them or studying the music theory behind them
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I really enjoy teaching, any level and any experience I just love getting students to there desired level of playing.
