You think you have a writing problem, but it's a thinking problem!
Most try to fix your writing to sound formal and academic by seeking to edit your grammar, spelling, and syntax but do not focus on developing or structuring ideas which both depend on your thinking.
In the rare instances where there is such attention to idea development and structuring of sentences, it will be merely to simply dictate the right answers. They will not give you the tools and strategies to do so.
They are not wrong in doing so but there is a seldom sought-after method to instantly sound more formal and academic.
