About Thomas
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Union University (2015), and have excelled in several graduate courses in math and computer science from Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland at Baltimore Country, and the Naval Postgraduate School.
After winning a programming competition sponsored by the ACM in 2014, I began work as a professional software engineer at IBM. I still work in software professionally, and now teach high school math and science, as well.

I'm a math and science teacher at Franklin Classical School, and I have a passion for helping students of all levels excel in math! I went from having zero confidence in myself as a high school math student to achieving a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science, and all it took was the right teachers. Once I gained the skills I needed to thrive in my math studies, I set out to help others do the same, and I have been a math tutor ever since! I work with students on a one-on-one basis to help them understand the concepts they learn in school in new and creative ways. It's shocking how a simple change of perspective can make a seemingly difficult mathematical concept click immediately! My goal is not to help my students memorize simple formulas for solving specific problems, but instead to grant them a deep understanding of the concepts behind the formulas, because those are the skills that allow students to thrive in any academic institution.
I tutor every variety of elementary school, middle school, high school, and college level math, from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus, from probability and statistics to abstract algebra. I completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Union University in 2015, and I have since taken 12 credit hours of graduate mathematics from other institutions of higher learning, including Johns Hopkins.
Over the years, I have developed a deep passion for mathematics, a passion which I hope to install in you, as well. Just remember: math is easy, math is fun, so let's start learning!
