About Donna
I started violin at the age of 7, and struggled with finding a teacher who could truly understand my practice struggles. It was not a lack of motivation that sparked, but rather being overwhelmed by the other things within my life and failing to find time to actually practice. Since finding the perfect teacher by the age of 8, I have been learning that violin practice is always quality over quantity; essentially hours of practice do not matter without good focus. There are so many ways to fit quality practice into a busy life. I am in courses above my level such as AP Chemistry and Calculus as well as various other AP courses. I am currently a first violin in Premier, the professional-level youth orchestra within the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Last year, I was the runner-up winner for the Academic Concerto Competition, and have participated in other things such as the CODA Honors Orchestra for years.

As an advanced concert violinist with 8 years of experience and a busy high school sophomore life with courses such as AP Calculus and Chemistry, I know more than anyone else how hard it is to find enough time to practice and find a work-life balance. Consequently, my lesson plan is structured with much attention to building a solid practice routine which perfectly aligns with your schedule and goals for this instrument. There is a focus on establishing a strong technique using various exercises and etudes, with songs that gradually increase in difficulty from a wide range. My lessons are suited towards violinists from the levels of complete beginner to intermediate.
