About Fiona
I'm a former secondary English teacher, currently studying towards a Doctorate in Psychology. I taught English Literature and Language at key stages 3, 4 and 5 for 7 years. During my career as a teacher, I took up faculty leadership roles as Key Stage 5 Coordinator and Second in Charge of English, meaning I have excellent understanding of standards for success and achievement in this subject area. I have 7 years tutoring experience, specialising in English Literature and Language GCSE and English Literature and English Language A Level (AQA and OCR specifications). I also taught 50 hours of Primary support during the lockdown period in summer 2020. My personal interests are in Gothic literature and modern Irish poetry. I enjoy working with children and young people and derive enormous satisfaction from seeing them progress under my tutelage. I find it most effective to work with children and young students by identifying their interests and building content around this, such that sessions are engaging for them and foster a love of the subject as well as academic aptitude.
