• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  My Subject is Hip Hop Dance, which primarily focuses on dancing/freestyling to music based on how one feels it. So priority will be more on the Hip Hop foundation and then later on will be adding techniques to it one by one to make the dance more interesting. I developed an interest in this topic years back when I accidentally found a Hip Hop dance battle clip in Youtube, the dancers were quite raw and unfiltered with their approach to music which impressed me a lot. Also I enjoyed that particular genre of music a lot which made me get an interest on this dance style.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My main motivation to teach is basically the rawness and honesty that freestyle helps us to get. It's pretty concerning to me that nowadays dance is all about doing difficult and good looking moves rather than the essence and feel of the music. So I'm using this opportunity to educate what dance actually demands and why people really do that.

• How does your work help society?

  Basically dancing is all about bringing people together. Historically speaking, dance is meant to be something which people can do together in the form of a party or a jam, basically to have fun. I want to bring those times back so that people can really enjoy dancing with others and also make the community more close and stronger.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My dance teacher is my role model. This is because he was able to give me a vision about what dance is and gave me an entirely different perspectives which makes sense at a lot of levels. Personally it helped me a lot in understanding dance and now I enjoy more while doing it. I want to share those perspectives mixed with mine, so that you can get a different vision.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Besides dancing I like to make freehand sketches of stuffs. Basically I like to draw. There are times when I don't feel to practice my dance. During those times I take a break from my practice and work on drawing. It gives me a lot of relief. Also I love watching movies of different genre.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Based on my real life experience and feedback from my friends, they say that I like to spread information about Dance a lot. The information may be useful in different kinds of work background and they find it making sense throughout. They also said that I'm a good explainer. It's like I'm good at explaining stuffs which I have a proper understanding of. This made choose teaching as well.
