About Tomos
Hi, I am Tomos, a History PGCE student at University College London. Over the last few years, I have gained lots of experience working with students in schools and am now moving in to private tutoring. I have a real dedication for education and helping young people achieve the best that they can.
Beside my experience, I have a fervent interest in history which I hope I can pass on to some budding young Historians!

Whilst I currently have limited experience as a private tutor, I have past experience working in schools as a Cover Supervisor and a Teaching Assistant, which I hope will provide me in good stead for tutoring. I will also be working in schools on placement whilst training to be a full time teacher this year. As such, working with students in an academic setting is something I have a lot of experience in.
Having been predicted both a 6 in IB History and Economics, I went on to achieve a 7 (the top grade) in both subjects. During my last year of studying the IB, I spent many hours revising to get the top grade and as a result learnt to perfect many revision techniques which I will aim to pass on to my students.
My IB History and Economics lessons are suitable for year 12 and 13 students studying the IB, whilst my History and Maths GCSE lessons are available for students in years 10 and 11. I am able to tutor students of any ability, whether they are behind or pushing for the best grades.
I typically offer one hour long lessons but can also cater for two hour lessons. I can do lessons on zoom and also travel dependent on distance.
During my lessons, I usually aim to go over any topics the student has covered that week in school and where they feel they need extra help. They can always ask me about any particular topic they are struggling with. I have access to text books and online resources such as past papers which I can also use during the lessons.
In the lead up to exams, I not only can cover the content of exams, but also exam technique, through a mix of approaches which I have tried and tested during my own revision for exams. These include looking at past paper questions and using online quizzes and other resources.
