About Gemma
I was an underachiever at school. I was not interested in formal education and felt from an early age that I didn’t have the ability to learn, or excel.
After returning to adult education at the age of 36, I began my undergraduate degree through The Open University, where, after four years of hard work, I achieved a first class honours in Criminology and psychology.
I caught the bug, and following my master's degree in Crime and Justice, I am now in my second year of PhD research.
My journey has taught me that it’s never too late to pivot! I genuinely love to see others finding their own path, working hard, realising their potential and thriving, even when it’s difficult.
If it was easy… they’d all be doing it!

Taking a casual approach to one-to-one tutorial sessions with a focus on your individual needs. These sessions can be in the form of more structured ‘lessons’ or as a space to explore new thoughts and ideas through free discussion.
My sessions are designed to spark critical thinking, creativity and to get to grips with a structured approach to essay writing and communicating in an academic way that is expected in formal educational settings.
I currently work as an adult educator with clients from various backgrounds and academic abilities. My day to day training role involves everything from teaching key skills, confidence, motivation, SMART Goal setting, to unpacking more complex undergraduate assignment questions, theories and concepts in the social sciences.
Typical sessions are 1 hour. Online via Teams.
