  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Electronics is an extremely dynamic branch of engineering. Knowing that it has been around for less than 100 years, the breakthroughs in this science and the effect they have had on modern society have been tremendous! If we keep going at the same pace, the future of this field looks incredibly promising. I chose to study Electronics because I want to be a part of that future. I love that through innovative concepts we can directly solve a massive spectrum of problems, ranging from something as simple as a kitchen timer to controlling a Mars Rover.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Electronics and Communication Engineering is considered as the backbone of the modern communication system. In the current scenario, modern applications like the Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Embedded Systems are highly dependent on the knowledge of ECE. One of the prime objectives of an ECE program is to equip students with necessary core competency in order to succeed in life after completing the same. The program focuses on the design of underlying hardware systems. The curriculum gives an opportunity to applications in major areas including telecommunications, energy and electronics sectors while motivating the development of required skills for the incorporation of hardware and software components.

There are numerous opportunities to build a career after completing the engineering course. An individual can make his/her career in IT industry, defence, telecommunications, electronic and hardware manufacturing, embedded systems development, software development, power sector, TV and music industry, automobiles, space communications, home appliances development, electronic security systems, mobile phones testing and development, communication protocols development, optical communications development among others. These diverse industries operate more or less similar across the globe; hence a graduate of electronics can also aim for a global career opportunity. Below mentioned are the top 5 reasons why one must choose electronics and communication engineering as a career option.

    1. A degree in ECE allows an individual to unfold and expand his/her knowledge in the world of electronics. Electronics is almost everywhere. It is at the core of the communication systems and networks that bring data, video and voice via different technologies. As an Electronics and Communication engineer, an individual will be in high demand in a variety of industries with many well-established organizations with plentiful work opportunities.

    2. Electronics is the leading edge of the world in the present time and also the wave of the future. As there is a human tendency to do things faster and better in this ever-evolving world, electronic equipment is also evolving and becoming more complex and are being used everywhere, in industries, businesses and even at our homes. On a daily basis, new possibilities are being created as the world of electronics is evolving. This thus opens up several new opportunities for Electronics and Communication engineers to develop new and better solutions that improve every aspect of our lives.

    3. The ECE branch offers the opportunity to redesign the world around and make it even more efficient, connected and sustainable. The course transforms the world by designing, building and deploying innovative solutions to real-world problems. The course transforms all forms of communication that include Digital, Satellite, Cellular Mobile, Wireless and radio communication and Networking. From digital electronics to embedded systems, from control systems to VLSI design and many more are transforming under the able aegis of ECE technologists.

    4. Electronics and Communications engineering jobs are among the highest-paid and have the highest job satisfaction. The possibilities for future developments are expected to be even greater than they have been in the past for the pass outs of ECE. ECE graduates not only earns an Electronics and Communications engineering degree but also transforms to work as a globally competitive software developer.

    5. As an ECE engineering undergraduate, one gets thorough academic learning, hands-on experience and leadership development.
  • How does your work help society?

Teachers are arguably the most important members of our society. They give students purpose, set them up for success as citizens of our world, and inspire in them a drive to do well and succeed in life. The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and teachers are that critical point that makes a student ready for their future.

Students carry what they are taught at a young age throughout the rest of their lives. They will use what they have learned to influence society. Everyone knows that today's youth will become tomorrow's leaders, and teachers have access to educate the youth in their most impressionable years - whether that is in teaching preschool, teaching extra-curricular, sports or traditional classes.

Teachers have the ability to shape leaders of the future in the best way for society to build positive and inspired future generations and therefore design society, both on a local and global scale. In reality, teachers have the most important job in the world. Those who have an impact on the students of society have the power to change lives. Not just for those students themselves, but for the lives of all.

Great teachers have the ability to change lives for the better.

Teachers can act as a support system that is lacking elsewhere in students' lives. They can be a role model and an inspiration to go further and to dream bigger. They hold students accountable for their successes and failures and good teachers won't let their talented students get away with not living up to their full potential.

Teachers of all walks of life and subjects have the ability to shape opinions and help form ideas about society, life and personal goals. Teachers can also expand students' limits and push their creativity.

Teaching is a tough job, but it is one where we can make the most impact in another person's life.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My role model is my high school Maths teacher. Teachers are key role models, who can influence the attitudes, values and behaviours of their pupils. A positive role model serves as example-inspiring children to live meaningful lives. Teachers are a constant presence in a child's life. They influence children as much as if not even more than-parents do. Over the years, I've seen the tremendous impact teachers have had on their students. They're not just educators; they're role models who inspire and motivate children outside the classroom as much as they impart knowledge inside it.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

My favourite hobby is travelling because I love discovering new cities and places around the world. I often save up for months to plan a trip every year. I love friends' trips and family outings but solo travelling brings me the real adventure and thrill to venture into new places all by myself.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Some of my favorite childhood memories revolve around the time I spent helping my mother plant and tend a vegetable garden in our backyard. She let me help till the rows and plant the seeds. Going near okra plants made her itch, so she let me pick all of that myself. To this day, okra makes me think of her.
