About Mei
My digital art and illustrations have been featured in concept art zines and by Procreate on their official social media. I’ve dedicated many years of my life to studying drawing, digital painting, concept art and illustration through various different classes and courses. I also studied Studio Art, and did a course at RMIT in Design, so I also have a wide background in traditional art mediums too, and a high understanding of design principles and the creative process. I have many years of tutoring experience in multiple subjects, though I’m now focused on drawing, painting and illustration. P.S. The artwork on my iPad in my profile picture was painted by me, though actually I paint in a range of different art styles. I can teach digital or traditional drawing. For illustration and painting I specialise in digital painting (Procreate, Photoshop, or any other similar digital art app).
I can teach whatever you want to learn – just ask! Eg: I can teach you how to paint Ghibli-style backgrounds; how to do “master copies” of paintings by the great artists, like how to paint Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”; how to paint what you see and make it an original artwork; how to draw and paint from imagination; etc.
If a student wants to learn the art fundamentals, even better! I can teach observational drawing, perspective, colour theory, lighting, value, composition, thumbnailing, shape, gesture, stylisation, figure drawing, still lifes, and so on. I can also teach creativity, design principles, how to nurture your artistry, and how to stay motivated and disciplined without losing your love of art.
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, young in years or young at heart, all ages (8+) and all levels are welcome. I tailor my lessons to the student – their age, their drawing level, their aims, the time they have to draw/paint, and most of all what they enjoy learning and how they learn best. I have a Working With Children Check, and I find it rewarding and meaningful to be a positive presence in the lives of creative kids, to help them grow and feel supported and understood as artists and as people. That goes for adults too.

Perfect! Every week I'm always looking forward to meeting up with Mei! She always has great exercises and homework prepared which have helped me improve in areas I wasn't sure how to approach (like backgrounds and composition).
