About Nicolas
I am an experienced tutor with eight years of tutoring experience and over 100 students taught across a wide range of ages, abilities and educational backgrounds.
I hold an MSc from Imperial College London and a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Economics. My academic background combines economics, finance, mathematics and statistics, giving me a strong quantitative foundation alongside the analytical skills required for Economics and Business.
I have worked both privately and with established tuition providers, including organisations supporting GCSE, A-Level, IB and international students. I have also worked with students with SEN, children in care and learners whose education has been disrupted, which has taught me to be patient, adaptable and responsive to individual needs.
I particularly enjoy helping students bridge the gap between knowing the theory and being able to use it effectively. Economics and Business require students to interpret information, construct logical arguments, analyse evidence and make well-supported judgements. I aim to build these skills alongside subject knowledge so students become more confident and independent in their work.
Students I have taught have achieved improvements of 1–3 grades, including significant exam-season turnarounds. I am equally comfortable supporting students aiming for the highest grades and those who need to rebuild their foundations, confidence or approach to revision.
I provide a calm, reliable and professional learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge ideas and learn from mistakes.

My Economics and Business lessons focus on understanding how concepts work and, crucially, how to apply them effectively in exams. I adapt my teaching to each student’s level, learning style and areas of weakness, with clear goals and a structured plan for improvement.
Lessons typically combine explanation of key theory with real-world examples, data-response questions, case studies and exam-style practice. I encourage students to discuss and explain their reasoning rather than simply memorising definitions, helping them develop the analytical and critical-thinking skills needed for higher-mark questions.
A major focus is exam technique. I work with students on interpreting questions, identifying command words, structuring extended responses, using relevant evidence and developing balanced analysis and evaluation. We regularly use past-paper questions, model answers and examiner-style feedback to understand exactly where marks are gained or lost.
I also incorporate active recall and spaced repetition to strengthen long-term retention. Previous topics are revisited through lesson starters, targeted questions and revision, while error logs and focused homework help identify recurring weaknesses and measure progress over time.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are taught online using an iPad and digital whiteboard, allowing us to annotate diagrams, work through calculations and analyse questions together in real time.

My lessons are suitable for GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level Economics and Business students across major exam boards, as well as university students seeking support in Economics, Business and related quantitative areas.
