I use a number of different teaching techniques to engage my students including:

- Active Learning: Engage students through hands-on activities, discussions, and group work to promote a deeper understanding of historical concepts and social studies topics.

- Differentiated Instruction: Tailor teaching strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students, providing individualized support and challenges as necessary.

Use of Technology: Incorporate educational technology tools, such as interactive maps, multimedia resources, and online simulations, to enhance learning and make historical and social studies content more engaging and accessible.

- Scaffolding: Provide a structured learning framework, gradually reducing support as students gain confidence and proficiency in historical analysis, research, and writing.

Here is a typical lesson based on a one hour period:

- Introduction (5 minutes): Begin the lesson by providing an overview of the topic and its relevance. State the learning objectives and what students will be able to achieve by the end of the lesson.

- Teaching Period (15-20 minutes): Present the key concepts, historical events, or social studies content through a combination of lecture, visual aids, multimedia resources, or readings. Break down complex ideas into smaller, digestible parts, using real-life examples or stories to make connections with students' prior knowledge.

- Discussion and Questions (10-15 minutes): Encourage student participation by opening up the floor for questions, discussions, or sharing thoughts on the presented material.

- Work Period with Teacher Availability (20-30 minutes): Assign an activity or task that allows students to apply the knowledge and skills covered in the teaching period.

- Recap and Closure (5 minutes): Summarize the key points covered during the lesson, emphasizing the main takeaways and connections to real-world contexts. Allow a brief time for students to reflect on their learning and ask any final questions or seek clarification if needed. Provide a preview of the upcoming lessons or topics to maintain continuity and generate anticipation.

My lessons are for students in grade 7-12 (middle and secondary) who have a passion for World History, and want to improve upon their historical thinking skills.

Embark on an unforgettable journey through time with me as your dedicated history tutor, where I'll bring the past to life, ignite your curiosity, and empower you to excel in understanding and analyzing the complexities of our shared human story.
