I am Lakshmi based out of Bangalore currently residing in Munich, Germany. I have a senior degree in Carnatic as well as light music and qualified for vidwat as well. Every session begins with breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups to prepare your voice. This includes basic Swaras (notes) and scales (Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa), ensuring clarity and stability in your pitch.
2. Focus on Classical Techniques:
I emphasize the principles of Indian classical music. You’ll learn the nuances of Ragas (melodic frameworks) and Taalas (rhythmic patterns), starting from simple ones and gradually advancing to complex compositions.
3. Personalized Learning:
Each lesson is tailored to your level and goals. Beginners start with basics like Aalankars (pattern exercises) and simple devotional songs. Intermediate and advanced learners delve into Bandishes, improvisation, and exploring Alaps, Tans, and rhythmic intricacies.
4. Cultural Insights:
Indian vocal music is deeply rooted in tradition. Alongside learning the techniques, I share the history, significance, and emotional depth of Ragas and their connection to nature, time, and moods.
5. Practical Application:
To make the lessons engaging, I include practical exercises such as singing along with a Tanpura (drone) and exploring semi-classical styles like Bhajans and Ghazals. We may also work on Bollywood songs inspired by classical music.
6. Performance Practice:
For those preparing for performances or examinations, I focus on stage presence, mic handling, and connecting with the audience. Mock performances are an integral part of this training.
7. Flexible and Supportive Approach:
The learning process is gradual and stress-free. I encourage questions, provide constructive feedback, and ensure each student feels confident with their progress before moving forward.
8. Tools and Resources:
You’ll have access to curated resources like Tanpura and Tabla apps, notation sheets, and audio recordings to aid practice between sessions.

Lakshmi is a brilliant teacher. She has a mellifluous voice and her music sense is extraordinary. She understands the need of each student and tailors the class accordingly. Makes sure students have learnt well before moving to next lessons. She also teaches bhajans/songs at the end of every lesson. She is very accomodating and flexible in scheduling the classes.
