About Topaz

In addition to being an interior designer, I have a background in illustration (2D and 3D) and furniture making. I have my Master in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design and have had the opportunity to work for a few prestigious firms (both large and small) in the NYC area. I take your success in understanding the software seriously as these are one of many programs that will separate you from the pack once you can navigate them effortlessly. This will in turn free you up to learn the business aspects of the industry knowing you have the tools to communicate design concepts in an accurate and creative method.

About the lesson

As your co-pilot, I will unwind the complexities of Sketchup and AutoCAD software with the following approach:
- "Bite Size": introduction of basic tool sets for a quick dose of accomplishment!
- "Again?": muscle memory does not only apply to the gym. we will use the basic tools in repetition until a comfort level is established through a series of exercises
- "More Please!": once we reached an understanding of the basic tools, we will add to that tool kit with more advanced techniques and methods.

Lessons are geared to those attaining degrees in the architectural or interior design as well as those already in the field that are in need of a refresher and/or need to add these tools to their workflow.

I have taught the program for the better part of 8 years and absolutely love the moment when the light bulb goes off when students make the connection. These programs can be daunting but we can get through it together!

my first lesson with Gabrielle was terrific! We were able to break down the hefty concepts of AutoCAD to bite sizes and had a great time tinkering with basic tools right off the bat! I have nothing but the utmost confidence Gabrielle will master this program in short order....she just doesn't know it yet! Looking forward to our next session!

Claire warned me of her fear of the softwares we use day in and day out in interior design. I called her the day before our first lesson to ease some of that before we actually clicked together on the screen. It was fun passing the video baton back and forth and watching her ease into the basic tools of Sketchup seamlessly though she was hard on herself throughout. I know she will absorb everything that I will show her and her determination to get these programs under her belt will help her reach her goals in the very near future! Looking forward to class 2!
