About Jenna-Rae
I come from Vancouver, Canada but am currently based in Barcelona, Spain. My native language is English but I also speak fluent French. I have taken the leap to learn a third language and am currently working towards becoming fluent in Spanish.
This will be my seventh year working in the field of education. My career path has been anything but ordinary and I have been fortunate to dip my toes into many different areas in the field.
While completing my first Bachelors Degree in African Political Sciences I worked at various refugee centres in Canada. My role across these positions was to assist newcomer children in adjusting to their new environment and supporting their English language journey. I fell in love with this work and decided to pack up my life and move to Kampala, Uganda to work in a non-profit school with orphaned refugee students while completing my Bachelors Degree in Education.
In 2017, I started my career as an educator in the public sector of Canada. For the last five years, I have worked in the field of ¨Gifted¨Education. In the beginning years of my teaching career, I taught Middle School gifted classrooms. Three years ago, I decided to leave the classroom to take on the opportunity to become an Instructional Coach. I specialize in Teacher Professional Development that focuses on Inquiry and Project Based learning practices, Design Thinking and creating educational experiences that are student-centered, learner relevant and INTERESTING!
I also provide one-one-one academic and passion based coaching to Gifted and Talented students. Themes include: finding your passion, managing perfectionism, navigating asynchronous development, living with sensitivities and overexcitabilities and more.

I am passionate about helping "Gifted" youth thrive. For three years, I was a MACC classroom teacher in Vancouver, Canada. I understand all the highs and lows of what it means to be a high-achieving youth and student. I pride my success on my relationships with my students. Simply put, I get them in times when they feel like no one does. For many years, I have felt this population is largely misunderstood and underserviced. I will always protest against, "The smart kids will be fine, they're good at everything!"
I offer two avenues of support for Gifted Youth:
1. Social-emotional development
-Asynchronous development
-Managing perfectionism and creating healthy balance while striving for excellence
- Coping with perceived failure
- Self-esteem and peer relationships
-Guiding and mentoring an Independent Project/Passion Project
-Overexcitabilities, sensitivity
-Underachievement: procrastination and time management

-Development and mentorship of a personal/passion project
