About Brenden
Hello :)
I've been learning languages since I was 13 and plan on learning them until I'm a little old man! I currently speak Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese. I’m also studying Okinawan, Spanish, and Farsi. I’ve taught Japanese and Korean for 8 years now, along with a stint in Korea teaching English.
I’m also a musician and writer.
I also have two Shiba Pomeranians. They are goblins.

I focus on understanding a language instead of just memorizing.
We start with a basic sentence:
watashi no namae wa ___ desu- my name is ___.
Then we go through and break down what is being said and WHY it's being said. From that one sentence you’ll understand the foundation of Japanese and even be able to make your own sentences you fully understand in the first lesson!
It’s kind of like LEGOs- once you understand the pieces you can make whatever you want.
I also have a huge focus on teaching culture and history, including:
・Getting drunk in Japan!
・The cultural origins of Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc!
・The history of anime
・The history of Nintendo, starting with Portuguese sailors (yes, for real)
・Shintoism, Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism, etc.
・The history of Okinawa
・Okinawan languages! (yes, they're different from Japanese!
