About Takumi
I have substantial experience teaching English as a second/foreign language in the United States and Japan. Since moving to Australia, I have personally tutored friends learning Japanese, which made me realize my passion for teaching Japanese!
Along with my teaching background, my academic achievements have further strengthened my capabilities as a Japanese teacher. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at an Australian university. My research focuses on language teaching strategies, and I have published several scientific articles in this field. I would love to help Japanese learners using my experience and knowledge.

The primary goal of my lessons is to automate the processing of what you've learned. The hardest aspect of second/foreign language learning is "using" what you have learned in class. Many learners struggle to use the target language's vocabulary and grammar in real-life situations despite spending a lot of time studying them in class. I will help you develop more efficient processing of Japanese for both input (reading, listening) and output (speaking, writing) using my teaching experience and expertise in second language acquisition.
My lessons usually last 30 to 60 minutes. In each session, we will review what you have learned in Japanese or English, followed by extensive practice to enhance your Japanese processing skills through theoretically effective input and output tasks based on recent cognitive psychology research.
Although my lessons cater to all proficiency levels, they are more suitable for intermediate or advanced learners.
