About Randy
Hello! I’m Randy, an award-winning ESL educator, physician and native English speaker from the US, currently having a blast volunteering as an orthopedic surgeon in the vibrant city of Ibague, Colombia.
I've had a pretty wild career path - I've served as a U.S. Army Officer, earned my MD, and have even flown helicopters. But my absolute favorite adventure is right here in the virtual classroom. I hold an MA in English Literature, and as someone who learned to speak Spanish, I know exactly how funny, frustrating, and rewarding learning a new language can be.
My classes are highly engaging. I actually build custom interactive web apps and quizzes for my students to make mastering vocabulary and grammar feel like play rather than work. Plus, I type at over 110 words per minute, so your chat box will always be packed with instant corrections and helpful notes!
When I’m not teaching and helping folks crush a 265+ on the Step 2 or land the career of their dreams with an IELTS/TOEFL/OET score that would be the envy of a native speaker, you can usually find me cooking up an American-style cheeseburger, exploring local Andean ingredients, playing Nintendo Switch, or catching up on old Baltimore police procedurals.
